64pp 265 x 220mm offset in card covers stapled. Survey exhibition by Coracle for The Crafts Coucil of Great Britain, held in the Crafts Council Gallery, Waterloo Place, London SW1 from September to November 1986. This impoverishedly produced catlogue ( due to budget retrictions ) is a mine of information of the field, and is an attempt to move beyond the isolation of the 'artists book' to a wider field of publicational activity. Compiled by Brian Lane, John Janssen, Les Coleman and the Coracle team, and displayed alongside a working bookshop of available materials, one of the itinerant bookspaces made by Coracle during these times. The categories of research include, Gallery Presses, Artists Presses, Mail Art, Fluxus, Printed Scores, Magazines and Journals, and Manifestos, beginning with the seminal polemic of 'Self Publishing as A Critical Alternative'. |
